Why Plymouth Chooses Acadia
Plymouth's coastal weather is hard on outdoor structures — and the wrong contractor makes it worse. Here's why homeowners across the South Shore hand their backyards to Acadia Outdoors.
Family is why owner Fillype Souza started Acadia — and it still guides every build. We treat your Plymouth home with the same care we'd give our own, with 11+ years of hands-on craftsmanship behind every cut.
We're a fully licensed Massachusetts construction supervisor (CS-114500) carrying full liability and workers' comp insurance. If something isn't right, we fix it — no excuses.
You work directly with our in-house master carpenters — the core Acadia crew. We never hand your project to outside subs, which means consistent quality and one team accountable from start to finish.
We're a Deckorators Certified Pro and a member of the North American Deck & Railing Association, partnering with TimberTech/AZEK, MoistureShield, EvaLast, and Fortress — names we trust and stand behind.
Salt air and damp coastal weather destroy the wrong deck. We spec PVC and capped composite — like MoistureShield's Solid Core — chosen for Plymouth's waterfront and shaded sites so your deck resists rot, mold, and warping for decades.
For custom projects you'll see a 3D concept drawing of your space before we build — so there are no surprises. We also handle all permits and HOA approvals behind the scenes.
Most Plymouth builds wrap in just 2–4 weeks — backed by our craftsmanship warranty.

Call (781) 786-1858Built for the Coast
Salt air, coastal damp, and New England freeze-thaw cycles punish a deck that was only built to the minimum. We build past the minimum — so your outdoor space still looks new in fifteen years.
We set our joists at 12 inches on center — closer spacing than Massachusetts code requires. That extra support stops composite boards from sagging or flexing underfoot, even years down the line.
Every deck rides on a durable pressure-treated frame with a properly flashed ledger attachment — the single most important detail for preventing water intrusion and structural failure on coastal homes.
Attached and elevated decks require permits under Massachusetts 780 CMR (10th Edition). We handle rail height, stair geometry, load paths, ledger attachment, and flame-spread — plus all permit drawings and HOA approvals.
Near the water, board choice matters. We spec PVC and capped composite — including MoistureShield's Solid Core, which blocks moisture at the board's core, not just the shell — so salt air has nothing to degrade.

Every deck is custom, so the honest answer is "it depends" — but here's a transparent starting point so you can budget with confidence before we ever visit.
A new deck in the Plymouth and South Shore area typically runs $25 to $70 per square foot installed, depending on material and complexity. A standard 300–400 sq ft deck most often lands between $8,000 and $35,000.
Five things move a deck quote up or down more than anything else.
Square footage is the biggest single cost driver.
Wood vs. composite vs. PVC changes the math.
Elevation, footings, and stairs add labor.
Railing, lighting, and inlays are add-ons.
Access, grading, and 780 CMR permitting.
These are typical Massachusetts ranges, not a quote. Because every project is custom, we deliver a detailed, written estimate after a free on-site visit — clear line items, no pressure, no surprises.

Fillype Souza · Founder & Builder
Meet the Builder
Founder & Lead Master Builder
Acadia Outdoors started with Fillype's hands, a truck, and a vision rooted in craftsmanship and family. After years learning the trades — from siding to roofing — and a transformative stint as a head carpenter on Martha's Vineyard, he came home to build something of his own.
For Fillype, this was never just about decks. It's about building the spaces where families slow down, gather, and feel at home — and treating every client's property like his own. When you hire Acadia, you work directly with him and our tight-knit, in-house crew. No subcontractors, no handoffs.
“We treat every deck with the same care and respect we'd give our own home. If something isn't right, we make it right — no excuses.”
Why Homeowners Trust Us
We'd rather show you credentials you can check than a number you can't. Here's what backs every Acadia project — and what our Plymouth-area neighbors say.
[ Add a real customer review here. Acadia's existing reviews can be pulled from Google, Houzz, or Facebook — describe the project, the experience, and the result in the client's own words. ]
[ Add a second real review here. Reviews that mention the town, the material (composite, cedar, etc.), and Fillype or the crew by name perform best for local SEO and trust. ]
[ Add a third real review here. Keep the homeowner's wording authentic — genuine, specific reviews build far more trust than polished marketing copy. ]
Warranties & Guarantees
Your outdoor space is an investment. We back it two ways: our own craftsmanship guarantee on the build, plus the strongest manufacturer warranties in decking.
We stand firmly behind our work with a labor warranty that guarantees our installation is done right. If something isn't right with how we built it, we come back and fix it — that's the promise behind every Acadia deck.
A limited 25-year residential warranty covering structural integrity, surface wear, and protection against mold and mildew.
A limited 25- to 50-year residential warranty (by product line) against splintering, cracking, and fading — for lasting beauty and durability.
A limited lifetime warranty on moisture resistance plus a 50-year structural warranty — built to withstand harsh weather and coastal moisture.
Every warranty detail, explained plainly before you sign — never buried in fine print.

Straight answers on cost, permits, materials, and timelines — the things that actually matter before you build.
A new deck in the Plymouth and South Shore area typically runs $25 to $70 per square foot installed. A standard 300–400 sq ft deck usually lands between $8,000 and $35,000, depending on whether you choose pressure-treated wood, composite, or a fully custom outdoor living design. Because every project is custom, we provide a detailed written estimate after a free on-site visit.
Almost always, yes. Under Massachusetts 780 CMR (10th Edition), attached or elevated decks require a permit, with code review of rail height, stair geometry, load paths, ledger attachment, and flame-spread. The good news: we handle all of it — permit drawings, applications, and any HOA approvals — so you don't have to.
Most deck projects are completed within 2 to 4 weeks once construction starts. Timelines vary with size, design complexity, weather, and permitting — but you'll get a clear timeline in your written proposal, plus weekly check-ins from our crew throughout the build.
Near the water, we usually recommend PVC or high-grade capped composite. PVC has no wood fiber in its core, so salt air has nothing to degrade. Capped composite — like MoistureShield's Solid Core — blocks moisture at the board's core, not just the surface. Both resist the rot, mold, and warping that damage uncapped or wood decks in coastal conditions.
Pressure-treated wood costs less up front but needs regular staining and sealing, and its upkeep cost climbs sharply at years 5 and 10. Capped composite costs more initially but eliminates annual maintenance, resists rot and insects, and carries 25–50 year warranties. On coastal, shaded, or poolside sites we lean composite or PVC; on a tight budget inland, pressure-treated can still make sense. We'll give you the honest call for your site.
Yes. Acadia Outdoors is a fully licensed Massachusetts contractor — our primary license number is CS-114500 — and we carry comprehensive liability and workers' compensation insurance. We're also a Deckorators Certified Pro and a member of the North American Deck & Railing Association (NADRA).
Our own in-house master carpenters — the core Acadia crew led by owner Fillype Souza. We never hire outside subcontractors for core construction, which keeps quality consistent and puts one accountable team on your project from the first cut to the final walkthrough.
Yes — we manage everything, including the necessary drawings and applications to secure your building permits and any HOA approvals. It's all handled behind the scenes so the process stays hassle-free for you.
Beyond Plymouth, we build throughout the South Shore and coastal Massachusetts — including Kingston, Duxbury, Marshfield, Carver, Hingham, Sandwich, Bourne, and Falmouth — plus Southern MA, Cape Cod, and Northern Rhode Island from our Wrentham base. Not sure if you're in range? Just ask and we'll tell you straight.
Two layers of protection: our own Acadia craftsmanship warranty on the installation, plus strong manufacturer warranties — Deckorators (25-year), TimberTech (25–50 year), and MoistureShield (limited lifetime + 50-year structural). If something isn't right with our work, we come back and make it right.
